Music, Purpose, and Gratitude: Fuel for the Journey

Recently, someone asked if I have any songs that inspire my writing. Truthfully, I prefer quiet while I write, but music is always with me throughout the day. Songs of praise keep me going, fill me with gratitude, and motivate me to fulfill my purpose. Here’s a look at some favorites—the top one especially speaks to me:
“How can I serve You, Lord?
How can I please You, Lord?
…Make a name for Yourself with my life.”
Thank you to everyone who supported our book campaign yesterday! We’re at 36 backers and $1,510 of our $5,000 goal. We’re not quite where I hoped we’d be, but I’m grateful! We are extending the 5-free book giveaway another day—please keep sharing and pledging. Thank you!
Update: A Message of Faith and Possibility

Yesterday, I reached out asking for your help to reach 229 backers of my campaign by midnight EST today. As an incentive, I added a giveaway for FIVE backers to win a hardcover copy of The Primary Colors.
With just 30 supporters so far, this may seem like an impossible goal. But I’m reminded that nothing is impossible for God. Success in this campaign isn’t something I can achieve by my own effort alone—it’s about faith and allowing God to work through each of you to help make this vision a reality.
This reminds me of the story from Matthew 17:27, where Jesus tells Peter to catch a fish, and in its mouth, Peter finds a coin—exactly what they needed to pay their taxes. It was a simple act of faith, but God provided in a miraculous way.
Whether you share the project with just one person or make a pledge if you haven’t yet, each action brings us closer to our goal of sharing this beautiful book world-wide with others, allowing God to work through you to make a difference.
“For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Luke 1:37
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, in any form, means more than words can express.

Thanks to your amazing support, we’ve raised $1,345 of our $5,000 goal with 30 backers (including 6 fellow creators!) We have under 14 days left, and so far, we’ve collected 16 book donations for children in need. 💛💙❤️
Can you help us reach 229 backers by midnight EST tomorrow? Whether you share the project with just one person or pledge if you haven’t yet, each action brings us closer to our goal. We have pledge levels as low as $5.
If we hit our target, the campaign will get a big boost, and we’ll do a giveaway for FIVE backers to win a beautiful hardcover book with dust cover. We can do this! Let’s make it happen together—thank you for your continued support!
The Power of Community

Reflecting on one of the themes of The Primary Colors—the power of community—I can’t help but think about the incredible writing communities I belong to. They have been such a blessing: a safe place to ask questions, share ideas, and even find the courage to start publishing my own books four years ago. I’ve gained from these communities not just valuable insights but lasting friendships.
In August, I had the joy of meeting some of these friends in person at an author summit in Kansas City, and it was absolutely wonderful! I’d love to give a special shout-out to the following very gifted authors: although they have successfully funded, they are currently still taking pre-orders on BackerKit for their latest books. Please consider ordering from them:
• Lisa Ferland – Ruby and the Off-Road Rally
• Nocola Williams – Bugzee and the Bees
• Leia Barrett – The Odd Dog
And while I haven’t been on this platform for long, the power of community is evident here, too, with creators backing other creators and individual BackerKit staff giving you their personal attention and doing everything they can to make sure that your campaign succeeds.
I would love it if you’d check out my campaign as well. I have pledge levels starting at just $5, and every single pledge truly makes a difference.
Thank you all for being part of this wonderful BackerKit community!
My Writing Process…Part 2

The top photo shows my office, which is my designated spot for writing. In reality, though, you would usually find me in the kitchen working and writing. (The shift to the kitchen happened during the pandemic when I would work in the kitchen to keep my husband company. After he passed away in 2021, I wasn’t able to bring myself to go back to my office space. Besides, the kitchen is a good spot for easy access to food. 😂) But I have to say that my phone is the office of offices! Since inspiration happens in random places: when I’m walking, lying in bed, anywhere really-as soon as it comes, I take notes on my phone!
